ECNL FL Event – January 8-10, 2022

I am lucky enough to live about 4 miles from the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, FL. This complex hosts numerous soccer tournaments each year. Just recently, the ECNL FL event was there with hundreds of teams taking advantage of the Florida sunshine. You couldn’t ask for a better weekend weather-wise, minus some wind on occasion. Luckily, my daughter didn’t have any games, so we went to check it out. We were able to see some friends of her play, while I was able to catch up with a few old pals as well.

I also wanted her to see what I high level tournament looked like. The place was buzzing with college coaches. With her starting high school in the fall, I wanted her to get a feel of what the recruiting trail looked like. I showed her a team profile flyer and she was shocked by how all the girls had really good grades (minus a few outliers). That helped solidify the fact that she needed to keep her studies at the forefront.

It was also nice to see some shirts being worn by what I would call “under the radar” schools. These are schools that your average person, and even average aspiring athlete, have probably never heard of. As we kickoff DiscoverCollegeSoccer.com, it is my goal to get as many of these types of schools on this platform. There are a ton of amazing opportunities out there. Hopefully we can shed some light on those opportunities for everyone!
